Dubai: Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10 percent of her match fee following an on-field incident during a Women's Asia Cup match against India. The breach occurred when Sana used a gesture after dismissing Indian batter Shafali Verma, which was deemed to provoke an aggressive reaction.

According to International Cricket Council, the incident violated article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. This article addresses actions or gestures that may disparage or provoke a response from a dismissed batter. As a result, one demerit point was added to Sana's record, marking her second such offence within 24 months. Her previous demerit point was issued during a T20I against Ireland in Dublin on August 6, 2025.

Sana admitted to the violation and accepted the proposed sanctions from Supriya Das of The Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. Level 1 breaches can result in penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a maximum of 50 percent of a player's match fee and one or two demerit points.

In the match against India, Pakistan was bowled out for 55 runs, with Sana taking three wickets in a losing effort. Despite the setback, Pakistan remains in contention for the semi-finals of the tournament with an upcoming match against Hong Kong, China. A victory in this game would secure their place in the next stage of the competition.
