Faisalabad to Host Inaugural Champions One-Day Cup Featuring Rizwan and Shadab

Faisalabad: The city is set to host the first-ever Champions One-Day Cup starting September 12, 2024, at the Iqbal Stadium, where Mohammad Rizwan will lead the Wolves against Shadab Khan’s Panthers in the opening match. The tournament promises a display of young talent and experienced international players across various teams.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the Wolves, under the guidance of Mohammad Rizwan and mentor Misbah-ul-Haq, are preparing to leverage home advantage in the upcoming matches, while Shadab Khan, leading the Panthers and mentored by Saqlain Mushtaq, returns to the venue where his List-A cricket career began. Both captains expressed enthusiasm about their roles and the competitive opportunity the tournament presents ahead of a busy season for Pakistan cricket, which includes more than 15 One Day Internationals and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The Champions One-Day Cup is noted for its blend of youth and experience, aiming to strengthen domestic cricket and provide substantial match practice for players.
