Karachi: A free medical camp for epilepsy patients was organized in Bahadurabad by Epilepsy Foundation Pakistan. The event, held in collaboration with Genetics Pharma, provided detailed medical check-ups conducted by Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, President of the Foundation and a noted neurologist, alongside Dr. Asfand Niazi. Attendees received free medications, blood pressure check-ups, and access to medical testing facilities.
According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui emphasized that epilepsy is a treatable brain disorder still surrounded by misconceptions in the country. She highlighted mental stress as a significant issue, attributing its rise to domestic and social pressures, economic challenges, and chemical changes in the body. The camp's primary aim, she noted, is to offer free, quality treatment to patients who cannot afford care and to improve public awareness about epilepsy.
