Dr Fowzia Siddiqui Calls on Leaders to Heed Aafia Siddiqui’s Distress Signal

KARACHI: Dr Fowzia Siddiqui, a prominent neurophysician and head of the Epilepsy Foundation of Pakistan and Aafia Movement, has appealed to national leaders to heed the ongoing distress calls of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. In a statement marking International Labor Day, she emphasized that May 1 serves as a reminder not only of workers’ rights but also of the struggles faced by oppressed individuals worldwide, including Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

Dr Fowzia Siddiqui likened the significance of May Day to a distress signal from those in dire situations, urging the nation and its leaders to recognize the plight of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who she says has been sending such signals for 22 years. She highlighted the moral imperative to pay fair wages, feed the hungry, and aid those unjustly imprisoned, suggesting these acts are met with divine favor.

She further called upon every Pakistani to consider it their duty to respond to Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s call for help. While acknowledging that the government holds primary responsibility, she expressed confidence that the Pakistani populace would support governmental efforts despite potential pressures.

Dr Fowzia Siddiqui reaffirmed her commitment to the cause, pledging to continue the struggle for Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s release through all possible avenues. She encouraged supporters of the Aafia Movement to persist in their efforts, trusting that success will ultimately be granted.
