Karachi: During a statement released on International Humanitarian Day, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement, emphasized that a just society can only be established on the principles of human compassion. She highlighted the ongoing issues of global conflict, including the treatment of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, as key areas where humanitarian efforts must be intensified.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Siddiqui addressed the need for global intervention to halt wars and extend humanitarian support, focusing particularly on the release of Aafia Siddiqui, whom she claimed has been wrongfully detained and subjected to severe mistreatment over the past 21 years. Describing the 86-year sentence of Aafia as unjust, she reiterated calls for the Pakistani government to take decisive actions for her release and repatriation. The statement also referenced legal efforts by Clive Smith, an American lawyer working towards Aafia’s release on the grounds of her innocence and the humanitarian violations she has suffered.
