Karachi: Chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, highlighted the significance of current efforts by the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to secure the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who has now been imprisoned for 7777 days. Dr. Siddiqui, the past administrations failed to free Aafia from what she describes as wrongful imprisonment in the United States, emphasizing the responsibility of the current administration under Mian Shehbaz Sharif to act.
According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui criticized previous governments for their negligence and inaction, noting the global support for the #SaveAafiaNow campaign. This initiative, driven by supporters worldwide, aims to mobilize efforts over the coming months, which are deemed critical for Aafia’s potential release. Dr. Siddiqui described Aafia’s prolonged solitary confinement as a result of criminal negligence and called for nationwide participation in the campaign to end her continued mental and physical suffering.
