CNN Academy Launches Newsroom Simulation in Pakistan

Lahore: CNN Academy has launched its inaugural newsroom simulation session, titled "Storytelling in the Age of AI," marking its debut in Pakistan. This initiative, running from October 12 to 16, aims to immerse participants in a dynamic journalistic environment where they will develop and report stories in real time, emphasizing the significance of accuracy and ethical storytelling.

According to University of Central Punjab, the program will engage participants in comprehensive news coverage exercises, including reporting, source verification, and publication decisions. Participants will interact with role players simulating officials, spokespeople, and witnesses during news conferences and interviews. They will also scrutinize social media platforms for rumors, images, and claims, which must be verified before use, and report from the field. This experience is designed to test their ability to balance speed, accuracy, and ethics while addressing the challenges posed by disinformation.

Guidance throughout the simulation will be provided by CNN Academy trainers Luke Henderson, David Ford, Glen Mulcahy, and Caroline Scott. These trainers will focus on enhancing the participants' skills in judgment, verification, and storytelling, mirroring the practices of CNN's newsroom.
