Chitral Lower: Voter registration in Chitral Lower has reached 57% of its estimated 2025 population, exceeding the national average of 54%, according to recent data. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released district-wise electoral roll statistics that highlight this achievement.
According to Free and Fair Election Network, the figures are based on population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census, with Chitral Lower’s population projected to be 335,840 by 2025. The district currently has 190,284 registered voters, comprising 102,731 males and 87,553 females. While male registration stands at 60% of the estimated population, female registration is at 53%, resulting in a moderate gender gap.
Two key factors contribute to Chitral Lower’s higher registration rate. The 2023 Digital Census excluded household members absent for over six months and recorded previous household members at their current address. Given significant labor migration to urban centers and abroad, many residents were counted at their destination but remain registered in Chitral Lower, affecting the population denominator used in calculations.
Chitral Lower ranks 37th nationally for voter registration rates and 14th within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Despite the strong overall registration, efforts to address the gender gap and promote equitable female registration remain crucial.
