Karachi: The second day of the PCB Regional Inter District Senior (Karachi Region) cricket tournament saw standout performances featuring centuries by M. Sohail Khan and Bahadur Ali, complemented by effective bowling from Rehman Ghani and Saifullah. Zone-I emerged victorious over Zone-IV with a decisive 10-wicket win.
At the Baqai Cricket Ground, Zone-VII struggled with their first innings total of 168, eventually being bowled out for 143 in their second innings. Sabeeh Siddique and Qadir Khan contributed 33 and 31 runs respectively. Saifullah showcased his bowling prowess with figures of 4/40, amassing a total of 7/73 in the match.
Zone-VI managed to post 207 in their first innings, with Ali Ishaq scoring 49 and Saifullah remaining unbeaten on 43. At the close of play, Zone-VI was at 14/1 in their second innings.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Zone-I secured a commanding victory against Zone-IV, earning them 9 points. Zone-IV was dismissed for 133 in their first innings and 174 in their second. Rehman Ghani’s spin bowling proved crucial, taking 5/57 in the second innings and totaling 12/82 in the match.
Zone-I’s innings was bolstered by Bahadur Ali’s unbeaten 104, supported by Alman Shafiq’s 62 and Ahmed Khan’s 48 not out. Afnan Khan was Zone-IV’s most effective bowler with figures of 4/45.
At the KCCA Stadium, Zone-III posted a first innings score of 350, with Shahzar Muhammad leading the second innings at 99/2. M. Sohail Khan’s 113 for Zone-II highlighted their innings of 266 all out. Abdul Rafay led the bowling attack with 3/53.
These performances underscore the competitive nature of the tournament and highlight individual talents within the Karachi region cricket landscape.
