CAREC Institute Commends University of Sargodha for Hosting Regional Research Conference

Islamabad: The University of Sargodha (UoS) has received commendation from the CAREC Institute for its pivotal role in co-hosting the 5th Annual Research Conference, held in Islamabad from May 29 to 30, 2025. In a letter of appreciation addressed to UoS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, the institute lauded the university’s support and collaborative efforts in making the event successful.

The conference, themed “CAREC Connectivity: Promoting Trade and Trade Facilitation,” attracted over 200 participants, including senior policymakers, researchers, development partners, and nearly 50 international delegates. It focused on critical regional issues such as trade integration, resilient infrastructure, and cross-border digital and transport connectivity.

In the letter, CAREC Institute Director Mr. Charymuhammet Shallyyev praised the University of Sargodha for its invaluable contribution, stating that the partnership elevated the discourse and impact of the conference.

The presence of Federal Minister for Planning Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Investment Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, and HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed highlighted the national importance of the event, as noted by the CAREC Institute.

The institute also emphasized the conference’s role in improving Pakistan’s image and expanding regional research connections. UoS’s involvement demonstrated its growing stature in international academic diplomacy and its commitment to advancing knowledge-based collaboration across Central and South Asia.
