Karachi: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has paid tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the first elected female Prime Minister of the Islamic world and Pakistan’s twice-elected Prime Minister, on the 18th anniversary of her assassination. Bilawal emphasized her legacy as a beacon of democracy and resilience.
In a statement from the Media Cell Bilawal House, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described December 27 as a day of collective mourning and reflection. He highlighted Benazir Bhutto’s role as a fearless advocate for democracy and her opposition to dictatorship and extremism.
Bilawal recognized her significant contributions on both national and international stages. He noted her vision for a peaceful and inclusive Pakistan, which continues to inspire future generations, particularly women and young people. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies focused on the people, strengthened national defense, and improved Pakistan’s international image.
Reflecting on her personal sacrifices, Bilawal reiterated how she endured the loss of her father and brothers, and faced persecution, yet remained committed to the democratic cause until her death.
Bilawal reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to Benazir Bhutto’s mission, vowing to continue the fight for social and economic justice, constitutional supremacy, women’s empowerment, and minority rights. He concluded by expressing reverence for her sacrifice, stating that her vision remains a guiding light for the party’s ongoing efforts.
