Bhakkar’s Voter Registration Rate Falls Below National Average

Bhakkar: Voter registration in Bhakkar stands at 53% of its projected 2025 population, falling just below the national average of 54%. According to the Free and Fair Election Network, these statistics are derived from district-wise electoral roll data released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and are compared against population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census.

The district of Bhakkar, with an estimated 2025 population of 2,073,456, has 1.1 million registered voters. Of these, 581,144 are males and 521,121 are females. Male voter registration is at 54% of the estimated male population, while female registration is 52%, indicating a moderate gender gap of 5.4%. Bhakkar ranks 41st out of 136 districts by population size in Pakistan and is represented by two Members of the National Assembly.

In terms of voter registration rate, Bhakkar ranks 61st nationally and 31st out of 36 districts within Punjab. The below-average registration rate is attributed to a pattern seen in districts hosting in-migrants from smaller areas. These in-migrants are often counted in the census but maintain voter registration in their original localities, skewing the local registration figures.

The report highlights the importance of targeted outreach to increase female voter registration, emphasizing the need to address the registration gender gap before upcoming general elections.
