Awami Theatre Festival Showcases Zakir Mastana’s Drama “Rishtay”

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s “Awami Theatre Festival” continued its successful run with the staging of “Rishtay,” a drama written and directed by Zakir Mastana. The festival, which spans 21 days, highlighted the 13th day with this domestic tale featuring a husband, wife, and their servants.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the play “Rishtay” captivated audiences with its exploration of familial and financial dynamics. The narrative centers on a financially struggling husband who marries into wealth, only to face conflicts when his wife reminds him of the origins of their riches. As the husband’s sister and wife’s brother enter the scene, the plot thickens with comedic and romantic elements. The story culminates in an emotional confrontation, delivering a message about the destructive nature of greed and the importance of relationships.

The cast, including Zakir Mastana, Shakeel Shah, and Parvez Siddiqui, among others, received significant applause for their performances.
