Arts Council Pays Tribute to Esteemed Artist Meher Afroz

Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s Fine Art Committee organized a tribute ceremony to honor the celebrated artist Meher Afroz at the Haseena Moin Hall. The event highlighted her significant contributions to the art world, drawing attendance from notable art figures and enthusiasts.

Prominent attendees included Chairman Fine Art Committee Farrukh Tanveer Shahab, Zohra Hussain, Noorjehan Bilgrami, Nusrat Khwaja, and Niilofur Farrukh, who shared insights on Meher Afroz’s artistic journey. The event was moderated by Amra Ali.

Video messages were delivered by Salman Asif, Rahat Naveed, and Salima Hashmi, lauding Meher Afroz’s work and its impact. Niilofur Farrukh praised the Arts Council for honoring an artist of international repute, while Zohra Hussain discussed Meher Afroz’s literary influences and thematic focus.

Noorjehan Bilgrami reminisced about the early days of the Arts Council and her long association with Meher Afroz. Salima Hashmi highlighted the artist’s dedication and the enduring relevance of her work.

Salman Asif commended the Arts Council for celebrating Meher Afroz, noting the intellectual and creative depth of her paintings. The ceremony concluded with Farrukh Tanveer Shahab presenting flowers to Meher Afroz.

In her address, Meher Afroz reflected on her upbringing in Lucknow and emphasized the importance of integrity and ethics. She shared a message about truth and humanity, underscoring the values that guide her life and work.
