KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid has voiced serious concerns regarding the preparedness of the provincial government and municipal administration in light of the heavy rains forecasted for the city. He issued a formal press statement urging the urgent cleaning of stormwater drains before the impending downpour.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid criticized the indifference of the Mayor of Karachi and the provincial government despite clear alerts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department. He noted that the administration's "Rain Emergency Plan" appears ineffective, existing only in documentation. Khalid stressed the importance of public safety, calling on K-Electric to secure exposed wires and faulty poles, warning that any loss of life due to electrocution would be unacceptable. He issued a stern warning that if roads in Karachi flood again, the Mayor should resign. Khalid asserted that the administration cannot use a sudden natural disaster as an excuse due to the advance weather forecast. He expressed frustration that Karachi residents, who pay significant taxes, face fear rather than joy with every rain forecast due to the Sindh government's incompetence. Khalid challenged provincial authorities to prove the deployment of dewatering pumps and drainage staff rather than making empty claims. He instru cted PTI town presidents to establish emergency control rooms to assist the public during the expected rains.
