Army Dominates Team Finals at National Squash Championship

Karachi: The Army teams emerged victorious in both the Men’s and Women’s Team Championships at the 35th National Games 2025, held at the PSF Jahangir Khan Squash Complex. As the championships concluded on the fourth day, the Army’s dominance was evident in the team events, while individual competitions also got underway.

In the Women’s Team Final, the Army squad defeated the KPK team with a score of 2-1. Zainab and Faiza from the Army team secured straight-set victories against their KPK opponents, Alishba and Sehrish Ali. Mahnoor Ali of KPK managed to win a match against Sana Bahadur, but it was not enough to overturn the Army’s lead.

The Men’s Team Final saw the Army team overpowering WAPDA with a 2-0 victory. Hamza Khan and Ashab Irfan from Army both won their matches in closely contested five-set encounters, defeating WAPDA’s Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman, respectively.

The individual events commenced with Ubaidullah from KPK securing a straight-set victory against Ismail Saeed of Gilgit-Baltistan. Other notable performances included Azlan Khawar of HEC overcoming Yahya Khan of PAF in four sets, and Abdullah Nadeem of Punjab defeating Mehmood ul Hassan of Gilgit-Baltistan.

In the women’s individual event, Zainab of Army continued her winning streak by defeating Vashnavi of Sindh in straight sets. Faiza Zafar also secured a comfortable victory over Fajar Hamid of Punjab, maintaining the Army’s strong performance.

The quarterfinals of the individual events are scheduled for tomorrow, promising more intense competition as participants vie for top honors. The Pakistan Squash Federation anticipates thrilling matches as the individual battles intensify.
