Army Chief’s Statement Receives Backing from Religious and Political Leaders

Islamabad: Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, President of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan and the National Unity Council, has endorsed Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir’s recent declaration regarding adherence to Sharia and the Pakistani Constitution.

According to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, General Munir’s statement, which explicitly denounces those who defy the Sharia and Constitution as non-representative of Pakistan, has garnered support from various sectors including religious, political, and judicial leaders. Dr. Zubair emphasized the consensus among these groups on the critical nature of upholding these foundational principles.

The Army Chief’s comments were particularly directed at the Supreme Court judges involved in the Mubarak Sani case, accused by some of stirring discord through their judicial decisions. Dr. Zubair affirmed that effective measures would be taken to confront any attempts to sow chaos and corruption in the country, asserting a united front to maintain order and integrity within the state.
