Arafat Minhas Attributes Success to Mindset and Work Ethic in Tri-Series Triumph

Lahore: Pakistan all-rounder Arafat Minhas has attributed his remarkable performances in the recently concluded ODI tri-series to a positive mindset and consistent work ethic, after playing a pivotal role in Pakistan's victory over Sri Lanka in a gripping final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The 21-year-old was named player of the series for his all-round contributions, scoring 149 runs, including two half-centuries, and taking nine wickets.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Arafat expressed his thoughts on his approach during a conversation with former Pakistan captain Salman Butt on the show "Straight Drive with Salman Butt." He emphasized the importance of building partnerships and taking the game deep, especially after Pakistan had lost quick wickets. Arafat's crucial 61 off 31 balls, along with his partnership with Hasan Nawaz, proved decisive in Pakistan's successful chase of 326 runs.

Arafat also highlighted the tactical advantage gained from a change of ball during the closing stages of the innings, which allowed Pakistan to regain momentum. The young all-rounder, who has represented Pakistan in eight ODIs and seven T20Is, reflected on the motivation provided by the home crowd and the significance of remaining composed under pressure.

Despite the accolades, Arafat remains grounded, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a consistent work ethic and routine. He views the increased expectations following his player of the series award as motivation to continue improving and performing for Pakistan.

Looking ahead, Arafat discussed the mental preparation required to switch between formats, as Pakistan gears up for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27. Both Arafat and his younger brother Sameer Minhas have been included in the squad for the upcoming series, with matches scheduled in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
