Aqib Javed Takes Helm as Director of High-Performance in Pakistan Cricket

Lahore: Former Pakistan Test fast bowler Aqib Javed has been appointed as the Director of High-Performance, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed today. This strategic move aims to bolster the country’s cricket infrastructure, according to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Aqib Javed, who represented Pakistan in 22 Tests and 163 One Day Internationals between 1988 and 1998, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Previously, he served as the interim head coach of the Pakistan men’s team, adding to his credentials in cricket management and development.

The appointment is part of a broader strategy by the PCB to enhance the national cricket setup. Aqib’s role will be complemented by Mike Hesson, who has been named the white-ball Head Coach. The PCB aims to leverage their combined expertise to drive the evolution and success of the team.

Chairman Naqvi stated that the appointments are crucial for the future of Pakistan cricket. The leadership and insights of both Aqib and Hesson are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the national team’s development.

This move underscores the PCB’s commitment to strengthening its cricket infrastructure and achieving sustained success on the international stage.
