Karachi: The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) recently conducted a public awareness session titled Hope in High-Risk Pregnancy, aiming to educate couples and families on managing high-risk pregnancies and providing them with expert consultation services.
The event, organized by the Section of Maternal and Foetal Medicine within AKUH’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, targeted couples planning to conceive, expectant mothers, individuals with prior medical complications, and caregivers interested in maternal and foetal health.
Attendees received guidance on recognizing early warning signs and managing the medical and emotional challenges that can arise during high-risk pregnancies. The session featured expert talks, personalized pregnancy management advice, and guidance on emotional and physical health. Additionally, participants engaged in a live Q and A with specialists and had the opportunity to win free clinic consultations and foetal ultrasounds through a lucky draw.
Dr. Ayesha Malik, Section Head of Maternal and Foetal Medicine at AKUH, highlighted the critical need for early identification and tailored care for high-risk pregnancies. “Through this session, we hope to empower women and families with the knowledge they need to navigate these challenges safely and confidently,” she stated.
The event underscores AKUH’s dedication to enhancing maternal and child health and aligns with its mission to make high-quality, preventive healthcare accessible to all.
