Karachi: The Master Oil Inter Club Cricket Tournament saw three intense matches unfold at various grounds across the city, featuring a standout all-round performance by Akhtar Ali, who scored a century and claimed four wickets to propel his team to victory.
According to Regional Cricket Association Karachi, the tournament, which is a collaboration between the association and Master Oil Lubricant, showcased significant talent and competitive spirit among the participating clubs. In one of the day’s highlights at Afza Ground, Landhi Tiger Cricket Club defeated City Gymkhana by 38 runs, largely due to Akhtar Ali’s impressive 119 runs off 18 fours and one six, and his bowling figures of 4/60. His efforts overshadowed notable performances from his teammates and rivals, including City Gymkhana’s Usama Rehman who scored 62.
Another thrilling match at Landhi Gymkhana Ground ended in a super over between Al-Mehran Cricket Club and Azam Sports after both teams tied at 237 runs. Al-Mehran edged out Azam Sports in the super over, showcasing the dramatic nature of limited-overs cricket.
The third match at Pak Star Ground saw Shalimar Cricket Club overcoming Malir Young Cricket Club by five wickets. Shalimar’s chase was anchored by Maaz Khan’s 43 and Hammad Zaidi’s all-round performance, scoring 34 runs and taking three wickets, demonstrating the depth of talent in the local cricket scene.
