PCB to Observe Breast Cancer Awareness Day During Pakistan v England ODI in Lahore

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will mark Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Sunday, October 25, during the fourth One Day International (ODI) of the tri-series involving Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium. This initiative is part of the PCB's corporate social responsibility efforts to promote awareness of breast cancer.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the event is aligned with Pinktober, the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It aims to emphasize the importance of early detection, regular screening, and timely treatment of breast cancer. The Pakistan men's cricket team will don specially designed pink kits, while the England team, officials, and commentators will be invited to wear pink ribbons to show support for the cause.

The match will feature pink-branded stumps, and breast cancer awareness messages will be displayed on the stadium's big screen and LED boards. Commentators will also convey awareness messages during the live broadcast. The PCB has planned digital and promotional activities, including special video messages from Pakistan players and dedicated content on its social media platforms to boost the campaign.

Special Pink Ribbon activities at the stadium will begin two hours before the match, aiming to engage spectators and emphasize the significance of awareness, early diagnosis, and support for those affected by the disease. Additionally, the PCB will offer limited-edition pink-themed merchandise, such as travel polo shirts and fan shirts, at its retail store and online platforms, enabling fans to support the initiative.

The Pink Day event is organized in collaboration with the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital in Lahore, offering free screenings for fans on October 24 and 26. PCB COO Sumair Ahmad Syed highlighted the board's commitment to leveraging cricket's influence for positive change, while PCB Director Commercial Ali Adnan Zaidi emphasized the campaign's potential to engage millions in spreading awareness about breast cancer.

Founder and Honorary CEO of Pink Ribbon Pakistan, Omer Aftab, underscored the partnership's potential to unite the nation and mobilize support for women's health, ensuring awareness translates into access to care for all women.
