UoS Vice Chancellor and HEC Chairman Discuss Academic Reforms and Research Initiatives

Islamabad: Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, met with the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, to explore strategies for enhancing academic quality, research, and institutional collaboration.

According to University of Sargodha, during the meeting held in Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Akhtar congratulated Prof. Dr. Hayat on his appointment and welcomed the vice chancellor to the HEC office. Prof. Dr. Hayat outlined the university's priorities, focusing on aligning academic development with measurable improvements in teaching, research, and student learning outcomes. He emphasized the importance of making academic programs responsive to market needs and strengthening faculty development and research capabilities through targeted academic support and collaboration.

The discussions highlighted the vice chancellor's vision for research to address societal and economic issues more effectively, with an emphasis on quality, interdisciplinary work, research partnerships, and translating outcomes into knowledge, innovation, and practical solutions. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Hayat stressed the importance of integrating digital technologies to streamline academic and administrative processes, improve access to institutional information, and enhance transparency and efficiency, ensuring that technology serves clearly defined institutional needs and services.

Both officials also discussed potential avenues for strengthening collaboration between the University of Sargodha, HEC, and other universities. Prof. Dr. Akhtar assured the vice chancellor of HEC's support for initiatives aimed at improving academic quality, enhancing research capacity, and fostering effective institutional collaboration.
