Johannesburg: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which will commence on October 2 and conclude with the final on November 21. This edition of the tournament will feature a new format and include 14 teams competing across 12 venues in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
According to International Cricket Council, the tournament will start with a Super Series that determines the final group stage team, concluding on October 6. The group stage features 14 teams divided into two groups of six, with India and Australia set to clash in Group A on October 7. The top teams will advance to the Super 7 phase, which begins on October 25 in Johannesburg. The semi-finals are scheduled for November 17 and 18, with the final taking place in Johannesburg on November 21.
The qualification process saw South Africa and Zimbabwe automatically qualify as hosts, with the top eight teams from the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings securing their places by September 30, 2026. The remaining four spots will be determined through a qualifier, with the winner gaining direct entry to the Group Stage.
The tournament will be hosted at 12 venues, with matches played in Windhoek, Zimbabwe, and across various cities in South Africa, including Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. The new Mosi-oa-Tunya Stadium in Victoria Falls will host its first-ever World Cup match as part of the competition.
The ICC has also opened a ticket ballot for fans worldwide, offering a range of ticket prices and special considerations for families, students, and community groups. Fans can register for the ballot to secure their place at the event, with the ICC implementing a seeding system to help fans plan their attendance with confidence.
