Lahore: A regional conference under the Green Enovate Renewable Energy Challenge 2026 took place at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, focusing on renewable energy, youth innovation, modern technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainable opportunities for the future.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the event was organized by the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Research in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Youth Programme and Green Youth Movement. Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, served as the chief guest, emphasizing the government's commitment to equipping Pakistan's youth with skills and opportunities in various sectors, particularly renewable energy and green technology. He announced financial support for viable business startups at UET Lahore through the Prime Minister's Youth Programme.
Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, Professor Dr. Shahid Munir, addressed the conference, highlighting the university's progress and the trust it maintains among students and parents. He stressed the importance of UET's role in providing an enabling environment for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and green technology. Dr. Munir underscored the potential of Pakistan's youth in developing sustainable solutions through collaboration among universities, industry, and government.
The conference featured a keynote address by Dr. Waqar Mahmood, expert talks, a panel discussion, and an exhibition of student projects. The panel included notable figures such as Nazifa Bhatt from WWF-Pakistan and industry representatives. Participants agreed on the importance of linking the creative and technological skills of the youth with renewable energy to create new economic opportunities for the country.
