University of Chitral Hosts Workshop on Nutrition Awareness and Assessment

Chitral: The University of Chitral's Department of Botany, in collaboration with the Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Agriculture Peshawar, conducted a two-day workshop focused on "Nutrition Awareness and Assessment." The event, held on September 29-30, 2026, aimed at enhancing understanding of nutrition among university faculty and administrative staff.

According to University of Chitral, the workshop was organized under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral. Experts from the University of Agriculture Peshawar served as resource persons, with the event hosted by Ms. Uzma Sher, Coordinator of the Department of Botany. Dr. Hafiz Ullah, Head of the Department of Botany, emphasized in his address that nutrition plays a crucial role in leading a productive life.

Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean of the Faculty of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Agriculture Peshawar, underlined the importance of spreading nutrition literacy to communities. He expressed gratitude to the University of Chitral for its support. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Zia Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Human Nutrition, spoke on the importance of maternal nutrition and the critical "First 1,000 Golden Days."

The workshop included sessions led by Muhammad Yasir, Research Associate and Master Trainer, who discussed the significance of macro- and micronutrients. In the closing session, Dr. Sana Ullah, Head of the Department of Sociology, provided an overview of the workshop's outcomes. Certificates were distributed to participants, and traditional Chitrali caps were presented to the resource persons as tokens of appreciation.

The event served as a platform for promoting healthy lifestyle practices and strengthening academic ties between the two universities.
