Punjab University Hosts Seminar on Mughal Socio-Cultural Legacy

LAHORE: Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre hosted a seminar on the "Socio-Cultural Legacy of Mughals in South Asia," marking the 500th anniversary of the Mughal Empire's foundation. The event featured an online keynote address by Prof. Dr. Ziyodakhon Teshaboeva from Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. Chairperson of the Department of History & Pakistan Studies, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Iftikhar, Director of Pakistan Study Centre, Prof. Dr. Amjad Abbas Magsi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Chaman Hussain were among the participants who shared insights on the topic.

According to University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Teshaboeva focused on Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur's impact on language and literature, highlighting the Mughal rulers' role in promoting intellectual traditions in Central and South Asia. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar discussed the ongoing influence of the Mughals on various cultural aspects, including architecture, language, and artistic practices, emphasizing their lasting impact on South Asian society. Prof. Dr. Magsi highlighted the Mughal Empire's contributions to art and literature, noting their inclusive societal approach and the concept of unity in diversity as key elements of their governance.
