Karachi: The Academic Council of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) convened its 16th meeting on Tuesday, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, to deliberate on pivotal academic matters and make significant decisions. The council ratified prior resolutions from its 15th meeting and sanctioned various faculty board decisions, including the approval of revised curricula for several faculties in line with the Higher Education Commission's 2025 policy.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the council resolved to implement a standardized internship policy across all departments. A committee comprising several deans, the Controller of Examinations, and department chairpersons was established to review the policy and provide a report within ten days. Additionally, the council approved a five-year strategic plan for the Faculty of Management, Business Administration, and Commerce, lauding the presentation by Dean Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto and Chairperson Qurratulain Nazir.

In the meeting, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Science and IT, discussed efforts to enhance the university's environmental initiatives and the adoption of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for the Faculty of IT. The Faculty of Education proposed research development initiatives and a Relevance Assessment Committee, which received council approval. The meeting concluded with accolades for Dr. Sahrai's dedication, including his recent recognition with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award. Dr. Sahrai reaffirmed the university's commitment to excellence and sustainability, emphasizing continued progress in modern educational practices.
