Karachi: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) has achieved a significant milestone in environmental sustainability, securing 5th position among public sector universities in Sindh and 34th in Pakistan in the latest UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, SMIU showed notable upward progress across global, regional, and national metrics, ranking 5th among Sindh's public sector universities, 34th among Pakistan's public sector universities, 471st among Asian universities, and 806th globally. The university has improved its ranking from the previous year, when it was 41st in Pakistan, 476th in Asia, and 808th globally.

On this achievement, the Vice Chancellor of SMIU, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, expressed his satisfaction, stating that the university's progress in the rankings is a reflection of its effective strategic planning and commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Green Campus Management. Dr. Sahrai emphasized that the improved standings highlight SMIU's dedication to environmental stewardship and inspire the university to continue building a model green, resilient institution in the region. He extended congratulations to the faculty of the Department of Environmental Sciences and other departments involved, acknowledging their dedication and hard work towards sustainable development.
