Lahore: Abrar Ahmed has ascended to the top of the ICC Men's T20I rankings, as announced by the International Cricket Council today. The 28-year-old cricketer, who has participated in 10 Tests, 19 ODIs, and 38 T20Is, has accumulated 133 international wickets over his career.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, this is the first time Abrar has reached the No. 1 position in his career, surpassing Afghanistan's Rashid Khan. While Abrar now leads the T20I rankings, he holds the second position in the ODI bowling rankings, trailing Rashid by 39 rating points. Abrar's Test debut occurred in December 2022 against England, and he debuted in ODIs against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in November 2024. His entry into T20Is was marked by a debut against New Zealand in Rawalpindi in April 2024.

Abrar, a right-arm mystery spinner from Karachi, has played nine T20Is for Pakistan this year, securing 15 wickets. Among these, he took six wickets in three home matches against Australia, contributing to Pakistan's 3-0 series victory earlier this year. Currently, Abrar is part of the Pakistan squad preparing for the Asian Games in Japan, with a training session ongoing in Karachi.

Speaking to PCB Digital, Abrar expressed pride in his achievement and emphasized his commitment to further success and his aspirations for the upcoming Asian Games, where he aims to help his team secure a gold medal.
