Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore's Benevolent Fund Committee has approved financial assistance exceeding Rs. 3.1 million for the welfare of university employees and their families. This decision was made during a meeting led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, focusing on educational and medical support.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the committee sanctioned educational assistance amounts ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 for 34 employees whose children are enrolled in colleges or universities. Additionally, Rs. 10,000 each was allocated for school-going children of 175 employees. In terms of medical aid, Rs. 910,000 was approved for eight employees, and Rs. 40,000 each was designated for funeral and burial expenses in two cases.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir highlighted the importance of employee welfare, stating that UET employees are vital to the institution's success. He reiterated that education and healthcare are essential needs, and the university is committed to supporting its employees in these areas. Furthermore, he urged the relevant authorities to ensure transparent and timely processing of welfare assistance cases to benefit deserving employees without delay. The committee's approvals were based on thorough reviews and recommendations.
