LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali inaugurated a 100KW Solar PV System at the College of Earth & Environmental Sciences, marking a significant move towards sustainability and energy efficiency. The solar system is anticipated to generate renewable electricity, reduce reliance on grid power, and result in annual savings of approximately Rs. 7 million in electricity costs, while also contributing to carbon emission reduction.

According to University of the Punjab, the inauguration ceremony, held at CEES, was attended by key figures including Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saleem, DG Prof. Dr. Rehan Sadiq Shaikh, and Principal CEES Prof. Dr. Irfan Ahmad Shaikh, among others. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali congratulated the university community on the achievement and underscored the importance of initiatives that foster institutional self-sustainability and responsible resource management. He advocated for sustainability to extend beyond renewable energy to include water conservation and efficient resource utilization, aiming to build a resilient and environmentally responsible institution for future generations.
