Nagoya: Two-time Asian Games champions, the Pakistan women's cricket team, will compete against Thailand in the quarter-final match on Thursday, 17 September, as part of the 2026 Asian Games. The match will be held at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture, with the game scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Pakistan time.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan's women's team, led by captain Fatima Sana, arrived in Japan directly from the United Arab Emirates after participating in the ACC Women's Asia Cup, where they recently defeated Thailand by 35 runs in Dubai. Notably, Muneeba Ali Siddiqui, the team's wicketkeeper-batter, returned home due to her mother's illness and will not be participating in the tournament. Gull Feroza will take her place as wicketkeeper. Additionally, the squad sees the inclusion of Aliya Riaz, Tasmia Rubab, and Humna Bilal, who have replaced Sadaf Shamas, Waheeda Akhtar, and Sadia Iqbal from the Asia Cup lineup.

The Asian Games cricket tournament features eight teams: Bangladesh, China, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Japan, Malaysia, and Pakistan. The semi-finals are scheduled for 20 September, followed by the Gold and Bronze Medal matches on 22 September. Pakistan has previously claimed the Gold Medal in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and the 2014 event in Incheon.

Fatima Sana, expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge, stated, "We are excited to compete in the Asian Games and it is an honour to be a part of Pakistan's contingent in this event. All the matches include great consequence and for that we will have to be on our toes right from the first games against Thailand." She added that the team aims to deliver their best performance in pursuit of a medal and looks forward to the experience of playing in Japan.
