Bulawayo: Zimbabwe has announced a 17-member squad for its historic five-match T20I series against South Africa, featuring the return of captain Josephine Nkomo and veteran batter Sharne Mayers. Nkomo, who missed the team's white-ball tour of Pakistan in May due to injury, will lead the side for the first time since her appointment as captain. Mayers, with 33 T20I caps, rejoins the national team setup after a two-year hiatus.

According to International Cricket Council, the squad also sees the return of all-rounder Nyasha Gwanzura, while experienced players Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Modester Mupachikwa, Loreen Tshuma, and Loryn Phiri maintain their places. The team includes three players who recently participated in the ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 1 in Dar es Salaam, namely captain Lorraine Pemhiwa, Beloved Biza, and Christina Mutasa. This series marks the first assignment for Mark Coles as Zimbabwe Women’s head coach following his recent appointment.

Zimbabwe will host South Africa at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, marking their return to home action since the bilateral series against the United Arab Emirates in September and October 2025. The series is scheduled to commence on Friday, 11 September, with subsequent matches on 13, 15, 17, and 19 September at the same venue.
