Turbat: In a move aimed at enhancing digital education, the University of Turbat's Computer Science Department has approved the addition of three new Bachelor of Science specializations. The decision, made during the department's fifth Board of Studies meeting, introduces programs in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security, aligning with the Higher Education Commission's framework.
According to University of Turbat, the meeting was presided over by Engineer Bilal Ur Rehman, Chairperson of the Computer Science Department. The Board also recommended allowing direct entry into the fifth semester for candidates with a 14-year Associate Degree in Computing and reviewed the curriculum and Program/Course Learning Outcomes in accordance with HEC guidelines. Vice Chancellor Dr. Gul Hasan emphasized the university's commitment to evolving into a modern, globally competitive educational institution as part of its Strategic Plan 2030, aiming to become a regional leader in high-tech education and digital innovation.
The meeting included participation from subject experts such as Prof. Dr. Waheed Noor from the University of Balochistan and Dr. Zakria from Sukkur IBA University, alongside industry expert Mr. Usman Khan from AptechMedia, Peshawar, who attended online. Additional members present were UoT QEC Director Dr. Riaz Ahmed, faculty member Balach Khan, Mr. Muhammad Yousaf Mujahid from Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat, and Ms. Gohar Aziz from Girls Degree College, Turbat.
