LAHORE: Punjab University has commenced its Sports Admission trials at the new campus greens and sports complex, involving 34 men's games and 31 women's games, and drawing athletes from various parts of the country. According to University of the Punjab, Olympian Manzoor ul Hassan senior served as the chief guest and chief selector for hockey player selection. PU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mahmood Saleem attended as the guest of honour, while Dr Amjad Magsi, Dr Mahboob Hussain, and Dr Shabbir Sarwar were present as part of the sports committee overseeing the evaluation process.

The first day of trials featured events for hockey, basketball, netball, and rowing. The university has seen an increase in interest this year, with more than 2400 candidates applying for admission through the sports quota, up from 2100 applicants the previous year. The trials are scheduled to continue until August 24, providing ample opportunity for the selection of talented athletes.
