LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has launched a weeklong capacity building training program for its laboratory staff, with the aim of enhancing their knowledge, improving skills, and ensuring the quality of laboratory work. The training is being held at the Veterinary Academy of the City Campus in Lahore and was inaugurated by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani.
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the training program is organized by the Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology (IBBT). Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani, during the inaugural session, emphasized the importance of laboratory staff possessing professional knowledge of laboratory operations, practical tasks, and modern innovations. He highlighted that proficiency in their work and prompt reporting of necessary items or equipment are essential to avoid disruptions in laboratory operations. He encouraged the staff to engage in online research related to their field and to perform their duties with excellence for the benefit of the broader professional community.
The training will feature expert lectures on a range of topics pertinent to laboratory operations, including laboratory hazards, safety guidelines, waste management, accident reporting, protective equipment, lab ethics, good laboratory practices, lab maintenance and cleaning, documentation, research resource management, and quality assurance procedures.
