Karachi: The Government of Balochistan has entered into a strategic partnership with the National AI Hub for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to enhance health services through artificial intelligence. The collaboration aims to improve maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes by leveraging digital innovation and data-driven decision-making.

According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to address health challenges in Balochistan and improve service delivery using AI-enabled solutions. The initiative will focus on collaborative research, capacity strengthening, and the co-development of digital health tools tailored to the province's specific needs.

The signing ceremony at LUMS was attended by senior officials from Balochistan's government, university leaders, researchers, and public health experts. The Balochistan delegation was led by Secretary of Health, Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, and included various health and technical experts. Discussions centered on using AI to strengthen Balochistan's health systems and inform policy decisions.

Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost and Acting Vice Chancellor at LUMS, highlighted the potential of AI in improving health outcomes, while Dr. Maryam Mustafa, Director of the National AI Hub, emphasized the importance of creating locally contextualized tools. The partnership aims to ensure that innovations are not only developed but also adopted and sustained within Balochistan.

The collaboration represents a significant step toward integrating technology into healthcare to support Balochistan's health priorities and contribute to Pakistan's broader digital health agenda.
