Haripur: A tree plantation inauguration ceremony was held at the University of Haripur, organized by the Forest Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, RECP Pakistan, and the Department of Environmental Sciences. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and climate resilience through collective action.
According to the University of Haripur, the program started with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Zia ur Rahman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences. Notable speakers included Mr. Aqeel Abbasi, Divisional Forest Officer; Syed Mehmood Nasir, Inspector General of Forests; and Dr. Irshad Ramay, CEO of RECP Pakistan. The keynote address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Abid Fareed, Vice-Chancellor of the University, who highlighted the significance of tree plantation for a sustainable environment.
Shields were presented to the distinguished guests in recognition of their contributions, and a group photograph was taken with the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. The ceremony also featured the planting of tree saplings by participants, symbolizing a commitment to environmental conservation.
