Punjab University Hosts Orientation for Local Self-Government Program

LAHORE: Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, Sangat Development Foundation, and Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE), organized an orientation ceremony for the fourth batch of the 'Post Graduate Diploma in Local Self Government'. On hand were key figures including Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Mahboob Hussain and Director PSC Prof. Dr. Amjad Abbas Khan, among others.

According to University of the Punjab, speakers at the event emphasized the importance of effective local governance, participatory democracy, and community empowerment. They discussed the role of academic institutions in strengthening local government systems in Pakistan. The speakers urged the newly enrolled students to engage with contemporary governance challenges and develop practical knowledge and leadership skills to promote inclusive and sustainable local governance. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Dr. Amjad Abbas Khan, who welcomed the new batch and reaffirmed the Centre's dedication to quality education, research, and policy dialogue in local self-government.
