Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh has announced the third phase of its protest campaign, stating that divisional-level public rallies will take place across Sindh if the alleged injustices against the province's water rights are not resolved. The campaign is rooted in grievances regarding the allocation and distribution of water from the Indus River, which the party claims is being unjustly diverted.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the protest was led by PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro, who spearheaded a rally under the slogan "Marsoon Marsoon, Sindhu Na Desoon" ("We may die, but we will not surrender the Indus"). The rally traversed various areas of Lyari and concluded in a public gathering at Musa Lane, Lyari Gate. Key participants included Yousuf Baloch, Javed Nagori, Rauf Nagori, Khalil Hot, and a large number of PPP supporters.

During his address, Khuhro highlighted the critical nature of water for life and warned that continued injustices against Sindh's water share would prompt the PPP to escalate its protest movement. He claimed that water is being unjustly diverted into several canals, in violation of the Constitution, and criticized both the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) and the federal government for failing to ensure a fair distribution of water among provinces.

Khuhro further alleged that the ongoing practices were severely impacting Sindh's agriculture and economy, with water shortages affecting crops and causing economic losses. He emphasized the PPP's resolve to prevent any action that could harm the Indus River and Sindh's economy, and indicated that the party would organize further protests if necessary.
