Ziarat Voter Registration Lags Behind National Average with 41% of Population Registered

Ziarat: Voter registration in Ziarat stands at 41% of its estimated 2025 population, falling short of the national average of 54%, according to the latest data. The district has 82,289 registered voters, with male voters making up 54.4% and female voters 45.6% of the electorate.

According to Free and Fair Election Network, the figures are based on the district-wise electoral roll statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on December 30, 2025. These figures are cross-referenced with population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census, applying a 2.86% inter-censal annual growth rate to Ziarat's base population from the census.

The voter registration rate in Ziarat, calculated by dividing the number of registered voters by the estimated 2025 population of 200,531, ranks the district 113th nationally and 16th within Balochistan. Despite Ziarat ranking 134th out of 136 districts by population size, its voter registration rate remains below the national average.

The challenges contributing to Ziarat's below-average registration rate include geographic distances between settlements and registration facilities, low population density, and the presence of nomadic communities whose voter registration may not align with their actual location. Additionally, the gender gap in voter registration is notable, with women comprising only 45.6% of the electorate. Addressing this gap through targeted outreach efforts is advised, especially in anticipation of the next general elections.
