LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali has called for academic institutions to enhance community development efforts by training grassroots leaders and social workers in modern management and leadership skills. He spoke at the launch of the second batch of the Certificate Course on "NGO Management and Leadership", organized by the PU Department of Social Work in partnership with the Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department, Punjab, and Community World Service Asia (CWSA).

According to University of the Punjab, the event was attended by faculty members, government officials, and development sector professionals. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali praised the initiative as a collaborative model between academia, government, and the development sector, crucial for nurturing professionals capable of tackling social challenges and strengthening community institutions. Dr. Tahira Jabeen, Chairperson of the Department of Social Work, recounted the first batch's achievements and expressed optimism about the second cohort's potential to enhance NGO professionals' skills in facing socio-economic challenges.

A representative from Community World Service Asia emphasized the importance of civil society organizations in grassroots development in Pakistan and reiterated CWSA's commitment to fostering leadership and professional growth in the non-profit sector. A representative from the Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal Department, Punjab, highlighted the government's dedication to fostering partnerships for social and humanitarian progress. Prof. Dr. Uzma Ashiq reviewed the department’s achievements over the last three years, acknowledging Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali's support in achieving new academic and professional milestones.
