Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan highlighted the enduring significance of Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day, urging the international community to support the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination. The day marks the historic resolution by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference on July 19, 1947, advocating for Kashmir's accession to Pakistan.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari emphasized the unresolved status of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, despite United Nations Security Council resolutions recognizing the right to self-determination for its people. He expressed concerns over ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated Pakistan's commitment to a peaceful resolution aligned with UN resolutions and Kashmiri aspirations.

President Zardari called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to fulfill its responsibility in supporting efforts toward the realization of the Kashmiri people's inalienable rights. He commended the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support from Pakistan until their rights are realized. The president concluded by expressing hope for a peaceful and just settlement that would bring lasting peace and prosperity to South Asia.
