University of Sargodha Awards Rs2.3 Million in Scholarships to 141 Students

Sargodha: The University of Sargodha has distributed scholarships totaling Rs2.3 million to 141 students in need through the MORA Scholarship Programme, supported by the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council. This initiative aims to help financially disadvantaged students pursue higher education.

According to University of Sargodha, the cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Malik Feroz Khan Noon Business Hall, with Rana Munawar Ghous, Chairman of the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council and Member of the Provincial Assembly, serving as the chief guest. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Director Academics Dr. Uzma Shahzadi, Assistant Director Academics Ahmad Usama, along with deans, directors, faculty members, and students, were also present.

During the ceremony, Rana Munawar Ghous highlighted the significance of the MORA Scholarship Programme in ensuring that financial limitations do not hinder talented students from accessing higher education. He announced the Punjab government's commitment to doubling the programme's allocation next year to assist more students.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized the importance of making quality higher education accessible to deserving students, regardless of their financial circumstances. He acknowledged the support from the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council and praised Rana Munawar Ghous for enhancing the scholarship programme.

Director Academics Dr. Uzma Shahzadi expressed gratitude towards the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Council for its ongoing collaboration. She mentioned that the scholarships are awarded through a transparent process that includes scrutiny, interviews, documentation, and registration to ensure that only deserving students receive financial assistance.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of scholarship cheques to the selected students by Rana Munawar Ghous and Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas.
