Karachi: Religious leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the two-week suspension and brief apology issued by Geo News following a controversial program that allegedly disrespected sacred personalities. Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, a prominent religious figure, has called for a more robust response, urging all those involved to publicly seek forgiveness and for the government to take disciplinary action.
According to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, Dr. Zubair, who chairs both the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and the Milli Yakjehti Council Pakistan, criticized the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority's (PEMRA) decision as insufficient. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation and the imposition of stricter measures on the channel and its executives.
Dr. Zubair highlighted the sensitivity of the issue and demanded that the government acknowledge its seriousness. He called for appropriate legal action against those responsible, underscoring the importance of preventing future incidents of this nature.
