Nasirabad Voter Registration Lags Behind National Average

Nasirabad: Nasirabad's voter registration rate, currently at 43% of its projected 2025 population, falls short of the national average by 11 percentage points, according to recent data. The district's registration figures place it at the lower end of national rankings, highlighting challenges in reaching eligible voters.

According to Free and Fair Election Network, data provided by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reveals that Nasirabad has 254,567 registered voters out of an estimated 2025 population of 591,025. This population estimate is based on a 2.43% annual growth rate applied to the district's 2023 census data. Of the registered voters, 53.2% are male, and 46.8% are female, indicating a gender gap in registration.

Nasirabad ranks 99th in terms of population size among the country's 136 districts but is 107th in voter registration rate nationally, and 12th out of 34 districts within Balochistan. The voter registration rate is particularly impacted by the district's geographic and logistical challenges, including vast distances and low population density, which complicate outreach efforts by the ECP.

The district's voter registration challenges are exacerbated by the presence of nomadic and semi-nomadic communities who may not be registered in their residential locations, contributing to the lower registration figures. The gender gap in voter registration, with females comprising 46.8% of the electorate, underscores the need for focused efforts to engage women voters ahead of upcoming elections.
