Peshawar: Women University Mardan, in collaboration with partner institutions, participated in the International Conference on "Politicizing the Issue of Environmental Justice and Mobilizing Climate Financing for Pakistan." The event was held at the historic Governor's House, Peshawar, under the patronage of Faisal Karim Kundi, bringing together a range of stakeholders to discuss climate challenges and solutions.
According to Women University Mardan, the conference convened policymakers, academia, development practitioners, civil society representatives, youth leaders, media professionals, and members of the business community to address issues related to climate vulnerabilities, environmental justice, governance, and financing mechanisms for Pakistan. The conference was jointly organized by the Pakistan Development Foundation, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, Women University Mardan, and the Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar, alongside other committed partners.
Discussions during the conference centered on strategic pathways for securing climate financing, establishing green economy frameworks, and promoting environmental sustainability. Participants also highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and marginalized communities in Pakistan.
The event emphasized environmentally responsible practices, conducting the conference in a largely paperless and carbon-conscious manner. Women University Mardan reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development, environmental awareness, and collaborative efforts for a climate-resilient future.
