Punjab University Launches New Tube Well to Enhance Water Facilities for Students

LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has inaugurated a new tube well at the university's New Campus hostels to improve access to clean drinking water for students. The initiative is part of the university's ongoing efforts to provide essential facilities to its student community.

According to University of the Punjab, the inauguration ceremony was attended by several key officials, including Chairman Admission Committee Prof Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr. Muhammad Akbar Khan, Acting Chief Engineer Prof Dr. Hamid Sattar, DG Student Affairs, Estate and Security Prof Dr. Rehan Sadiq Sheikh, and Director Student Affairs Dr. Shahzaib Khan. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali highlighted the university's commitment to ensuring a continuous supply of clean water, which he described as a priority for the administration. He instructed officials to maintain a robust monitoring system to ensure the provision of necessary facilities in both hostels and other university buildings.

Prof Dr. Hamid Sattar informed attendees that, for the first time, the tube wells are linked to an online monitoring system, enhancing the efficiency of water supply management and reducing operator-related costs. The tube wells will use inverter technology, anticipated to cut electricity usage by 15 percent, thus saving financial resources while boosting the efficiency and sustainability of the water system.
