Renowned Sindhi Poet Ghulam Sarwar Soomro’s Poetry Collection Launched in Karachi

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi's Lok Virsa Committee held a ceremony to launch "Sarwar Ko Yaad Rakhna" (Remembering Sarwar), a poetry collection by the late Sindhi poet Ghulam Sarwar Soomro. The event, hosted at Hasina Moin Hall, featured Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, as the chief guest. The launch was attended by President of the Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah, Director General Culture Sindh Habibullah Memon, and several prominent literary figures.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah expressed that the publication of Ghulam Sarwar Soomro's book was a matter of pride and honor for the poet's family. Shah emphasized the importance of introducing the younger generation to Sindh's rich literary heritage and its distinguished poets, noting that the region has a history of producing influential poets, writers, and intellectuals. He highlighted the role of literature and poetry in promoting awareness and intellectual growth in society, while urging the preservation of literary heritage for future generations.

The event featured speeches by Hameed Soomro, Masroor Peerzado, Abdul Momin Memon, Sikandar Soomro, and Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Sheikh. Masroor Peerzado shared his longstanding friendship with the late poet and remarked on the depth and beauty of Soomro's work. Abdul Momin Memon described the collection as a blend of poetic expression, showcasing human consciousness.

Hameed Soomro, son of the late poet, expressed pride in publishing his father's collection, noting his father's dedication to serving others. The event concluded with a musical performance that captivated the audience.
